Straight up K-7, and you never leave the county.
Basehor to Miami Street is 12.1 miles in a straight line and one highway on the ground. Get on K-7 at the north edge of town, which is US-73 through here as well, and stay on it. Four lanes, divided, north through Lansing and into Leavenworth, where the identical road picks up the name South 4th Street. The shop is in the 400 block of Miami, a few blocks off 4th.
Basehor's own spine is 155th Street, which was a numbered state highway, K-72, until the state handed it back to local control in 1973. US-24 and US-40 run east and west along the south side of town. Whichever of those three you start on, the trip north is one turn and then a straight line, and it stays inside Leavenworth County the entire way.
Both towns on this drive are county towns rather than metro suburbs, and after a storm that is the practical reason to make it. Point the car southeast out of Basehor and it joins the whole metro's volume. Point it north and it does not.

The NOAA Storm Events Database carries 29 confirmed hail reports within twelve miles of Basehor from 2024 through 2026. Across the river, twelve miles around Platte City produces nine reports in the same window. One of Basehor's 29 has the town's own name on it: 19 May 2025, 2:52 in the afternoon, a one inch stone, logged three tenths of a mile from the middle of town.
Read the rest by distance and the seam shows up. On 10 March 2026 a one inch report came out of Loring at 5:29 in the evening and a 1.25 inch report out of Piper five minutes later, both 5.3 miles from Basehor. On 13 March 2024, 1.75 inch stones were reported at Piper at 6:55 that evening from 5.5 miles out, a 1.75 inch report came from Bonner Springs two minutes earlier at 6.0 miles, and a two inch stone was logged at Edwardsville, 7.2 miles.
Northwest of Basehor the reports are rural, scattered and modest: one inch at Lenape on 13 March 2024, one inch at Jarbalo on 26 May 2024, one inch at Linwood. Southeast of Basehor, along the county line, is where the record sizes come from. The largest stone inside Basehor's twelve miles in three years was three and a half inches at Wilder on 13 March 2024, 8.6 miles away, and that is the biggest hail report in the entire six county set this page draws from.
So the practical read for a Basehor driver is a split one. Your town's own confirmed damage has been the inch class. You are also eight or nine miles from where the largest stones in the metro landed, and a hail core does not stop at a county line. Two storms and one bad hour separate those two outcomes.
A dent count is not a size contest. A car parked in Basehor on 19 May 2025 under one inch hail and a car parked six miles southeast on 13 March 2024 under 1.75 inch hail both end up as a list of dents on an estimate, and the only question that matters is whether the list is complete.
