Here is where most KC metro repairs land.

- Severe damage, hundreds of dents, large or creased dents, glass or trim involved: $7,000 to $15,000 and up.

Hail is priced off a panel-by-panel damage map, not a flat rate. Four things drive the number.
- Dent count. The single biggest factor. Forty dents and four hundred dents are different jobs on the same car.
- Dent size and depth. Estimators size dents against coins: dime, nickel, quarter. Bigger and deeper costs more, and sharp creases cost more than round dimples.
- Which panels got hit. Hoods and roofs take the worst of a storm. Aluminum panels, braced edges, and tight corners take longer than an open steel door skin.
- Paint condition. Paintless dent repair only works while the paint is intact. Cracked or chipped paint pushes a panel toward conventional repair, which adds cost.
Two cars parked side by side in the same storm can carry very different numbers. The vehicle, the angle it faced, even which side of the street it sat on all change the map.
What you actually pay
Hail falls under the comprehensive side of your policy, because a storm is not your fault. If you claim, the math is simple. You pay your deductible once, and your carrier covers the approved repair above it. A $6,000 repair against a $500 deductible costs you $500, whether the storm hit one panel or six.
Two honest notes. Your deductible is part of your contract with your carrier, so be careful with anyone promising you can skip it entirely. And how a comprehensive claim touches your renewal depends on your policy, which is worth a five-minute call to your agent.

When hail totals a vehicle
If the repair estimate climbs toward the vehicle's actual cash value, the carrier may write it off rather than repair it. That math hits older vehicles hardest. $9,000 of dents on a $10,000 sedan is a write-off conversation. The same damage on a $48,000 truck is just a repair.
This is exactly why the damage map matters in both directions. It makes sure a repairable car gets a complete estimate, and it makes sure a write-off offer reflects everything the storm actually did. Why paintless, and when it is not the answer
